RV Shipments Hit 40-Year Monthly High

The RV market continued to grow at a torrid pace with shipments reaching 135,417 units through April, a gain of 9.4% over the 123,745 units shipped in the same four-month period in 2014, according to RVIA’s monthly survey of manufacturers.

Last month’s shipments marked the best monthly total for April shipments in more than four decades with  38,343 units shipped, an increase of 4.9% over March 2015 totals and 13.5% over April 2014 totals.  It also is 40th consecutive month in which RV shipments were ahead of the corresponding month one year earlier.

Towable RV shipments were up 9.6%, rising from 108,528 units through April 2014 to 118,995 units through April 2015. This market segment was led by conventional travel trailer shipments which totaled 24,312 units for the month of April, the highest number for these products in more than 40 years.

Motorhome shipments were up 7.9%, growing to 16,422 units this year as compared to 15,217 units last year through April.
