RV Shipments Climb Through First Half of 2015

The RV market continued to track upward in the first half of 2015 with total RV wholesale shipments reaching 202,653 units through June, an increase of 5.5% over the 192,065 units shipped during the same time frame in 2014 according to RVIA’s June 2015 survey of manufacturers.
Towable RV shipments, representing nearly 88% of all RVs manufactured, led the way in volume total with shipments reaching 177,939 units through June, a 5.5% gain over the 168,737 units shipped during the same six-month time frame in 2014. Conventional travel trailers remained the largest volume category, reaching 128,991 units on 7.6% growth. Fifth wheels rose slightly by 1.2% to 41,756 units. Truck campers were also up (1.3%) to 1,603 units. Folding camping trailers dropped to 5,589 units, off 7%.
Meanwhile, motorhome shipments, accounting for 12% of the RV market, showed the largest percentage gain with the market segment up nearly six percent to 24,714 units compared to 23,328 units last year at the same point. Type A motorhome shipments are off slightly, dropping 1.5% to 11,108 units; type B motorhomes are up 7.1% to 1,709 units; and type C motorhomes have reached 11,897 units on 13.7% growth.
On a seasonally adjusted basis, shipments through June were at an annualized rate of nearly 370,000 units, the best mid-year total since 2006.
